LONDON, ENGLAND - Condom manufacturer Durex today announced a new partnership with Nintendo to bring a range of flavored and textured rubber jackets to the market for Wii controllers.

The partnership came about when Durex’ head of distribution, Johnny Bagg, hit himself in the face when playing Super Mario Galaxy. Fortunately, his controller was fitted with the ridiculous protective sleeve now bundled with the console.

“Durex has long been associated with safety and protection,” Bagg told reporters attending the product launch party at Stringfellow’s nightclub. “When I took that Wii controller in the eye, I realized our sheathing expertise was something Nintendo could really use.”

The initial line up of rubber coated controllers feature Durex’ trademark style, and attempt to appeal to a wide demographic of gamers from all ages. Five different colors have been released – vermillion, yellow, cyan, navy blue and shocking pink - along with a mixture of flavors to add extra appeal to receivers of an out of control controller, including: strawberry, banana, tikka masala, hoi sin, lemon and lime, sweet chilli, chocolate and unscented.

“It’s a partnership that really works both ways,” Bagg continues. “Nintendo has been attempting to shake off the children’s toy image for some time, and we feel that going into the chemists for a packet of Wii bags will encourage older gamers to take an interest in the console.

“Whereas we at Durex have long been looking for a way to bring our products to a younger customer base, and feel that our strong and sensitive reputation in conjunction with the Wii will help us to  successfully penetrate this exciting new demographic.”

Dubbed ‘Nintendoms’, these ultra-sensitive protective sheaths will be available from all major gaming outlets and vending machines in men’s toilets.
