Fans disgruntled when Hendrix game needs new 60 button controller to work.
TROY, NEW
YORK – Following on from the massive success of the Guitar Hero franchise,
developers Vicarious Visions have today announced the next title in the series:
Guitar Super Hero: Jimi Hendrix Edition.
Fans of the
previous games have been calling out for more classic rock tracks, but are none
too happy about the game requiring yet another new controller.
“We’re very
excited to be able to make Jimi Hendrix’ catalogue of guitar shredding titles
available to fans of Guitar Hero,” said VP of Development at Vicarious Visions,
Cecil Shneebly. “And we fully appreciate people’s concerns over this great game
requiring a different controller to the previous ones. Our development teams
have been working on adapting Hendrix anthems to the old controller systems for
quite some time, but after several of them lost fingers and credibility during
beta testing, we realized we had to update the control system to bring it in
line with the Axe Man’s style. We feel confident that once people have shredded
this shit up, they’ll agree the new controller is a necessity, y’all.”
The new
controller follows the same basic principle as the old Guitar Hero system, but
incorporates an updated arrangement of over 60 buttons to properly recreate the
furious performances of hits like New Rising Sun, Hey Joe and Voodoo Child.
The new ‘HendriX-box”,
as it’s been dubbed, goes beyond the arrangement of buttons to bring the guitar
master back to life, however. The end of the neck incorporates a compartment
for hiding weed with a specially designed spliff holder above the tuning keys.
The body and neck are fully detachable, allowing players to smash their
controller over their speakers at the end of a song, and the whole unit is constructed
of a unique flammable material which allows the controller to automatically
burst into flames when a high score is achieved.
“We’re very
proud and excited about this latest evolution of the Guitar Hero series,”
explained Shneebly. “We’re going to rock this m*ther fucker, yo.”
